Barry Lane leaves the MCB Tour Championship Victorious

Barry Lane leaves victorious from the MCB Tour Championship, at Constance Belle Mare Plage, the final event of the 2016 European Senior Tour season. Lane has twice been the runner up, and inside the top ten on more than three occasions at this event in Mauricitus. However this time he produced a final round 68 to win the season-ending event by one stroke from playing partner Paul Broadhurst. Finishing on a total of 14 under par, Lane secured his fifth Senior Tour title. After starting the day in a share of the lead with Broadhurst, he made the turn, he had a five stroke lead over his rivals which included Broadhurst and former Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie. Bogeys on the 12th and 14th holes saw Montgomerie draw level, but with a double bogey by Lane on the 16th moved him back in front. Lane’s victory moves him to fifth in the Senior Tour Order of Merit, which will likely give him exemption to the 2017 US Senior Open for finishing inside the top six.
